Triton Bay is very remote, located in the southwestern corner of Papua. However, this remoteness rewards scuba divers and snorkelers with an incredible underwater paradise, unique to the area. From magnificent coral reefs and an abundance of fish, to Wobegon Shark encounters, these are just some of the amazing experiences awaiting you in Triton Bay.
Particularly for Scuba Divers, Triton Bay is home to some of the most amazing sites you’ll ever dive in Indonesia. We’ll be highlighting some of those dive sites in this article.
Triton, Aiduma
Located on the perimeter of Triton Bay, Aiduma is considered to be one of the best kept secrets of Triton Bay, which itself is a frontier in the diving world. Underneath the surface of Aiduma lies an underwater paradise that will leave you in awe and wonder. You’ll rub shoulders with exotic schools of fish, witness pristine corals and, if you’re lucky, even sight the majestic Whale Shark.
Triton, Larry’s Heaven
One of the major dive sites that can be found here is Larry’s Heaven, also known as The Aquarium. This dive site derives its name from the late American Larry Smith, who traveled on his own to document the waters of Indonesia.
This dive site is characterized by a dense amount of black coral trees, sea fans and other colorful hard corals that are home to an incredible number of marine critters. The sheer diversity found here just cannot be conveyed through words alone. You’ll have to explore and see for yourself; there’s a good reason it’s called Larry’s Heaven!
Triton, Namatote
Namatote is another destination that our Calico Jack crew will take you to as you set sail on our liveaboard. A unique highlight of this location is the privilege to swim with Whale Sharks all year round. The fishing platforms, called Bagans, allow swimmers and divers to sight the majestic Whale Sharks as they feed on the planktons.
These are just some of the few underwater paradises you can expect to encounter as you set sail to Triton Bay. Join us at Calico Jack Charters as we explore one of the final frontiers of the diving world!
