Scuba diving can be one of the most rewarding experiences you ever participate in. Especially in Bali, where the water is pristine, has an abundance of marine life and the healthiest corals you’ll ever find in the Indonesian archipelago – it’s no short of a diving paradise. A liveaboard diving trip can maximize your time in the water and ensure you get a wholesome and fulfilling scuba diving experience.
However, before you go, read our guide to ensure you make the most of your liveaboard scuba diving trip.
Go over your diving certification and insurance
The first thing to do before going on a liveaboard trip is check your level of diving certification. This will dictate how deep you can dive, but more importantly the areas you can explore. Those certified with PADI Open Water Diver can dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters or 60 feet. And if you are an Advanced Open Water diver, you can dive even deeper, to a maximum depth of 30 meters, or 100 feet.
Check diving equipment
Just as important as our tip above, is to check your dive equipment is properly sized for you. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and assume the rentals will have your size. Make sure you check ahead; the last thing you want is to be unable to dive due to the lack of proper gear. It’s always better to stay prepared ahead of time.
Explore your diving destinations
Chances are, if you’re looking into a liveaboard scuba diving trip, you already know which locations you want to visit, but a bucket list would be even better, so you can maximize your time exploring areas you personally want to dive. If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas, think of questions like, “what kind of animals do I want to encounter during my time in the water?”. Is it Manta Rays, the Mola Mola Sunfish, or maybe you prefer to observe the smaller critters that live in the corals? These are things you need to think about before jumping ahead and scheduling a liveaboard trip! Another pro tip is to explore the surrounding attractions, so you can soak in the local culture and sights as well.
