An Unforgettable Journey Through Raja Ampat’s Wildest Waters

12 Days | 30+ Dives | 1 Wild Story

Set sail aboard Calico Jack for a 12-day expedition through the heart of Raja Ampat—Indonesia’s most iconic diving and exploration frontier. This is no ordinary liveaboard cruise. It’s a fully guided, expertly crewed adventure designed for divers, explorers, and ocean lovers who crave discovery without compromising comfort.

Over the course of 30+ dives, you’ll explore the legendary coral gardens of Misool, swim with manta rays at Manta Sandy, navigate hidden lagoons by kayak, and drift through current-swept seamounts teeming with marine life. Each day brings new landscapes, underwater worlds, and quiet moments on deck that feel completely off the grid.

Your crew isn’t just there to serve—they’re your dive guides, naturalists, chefs, fixers, and storytellers. Every detail is handled so you can focus on the experience: diving, exploring, and soaking up the beauty of one of the most biodiverse marine regions on Earth.

Whether you’re an avid diver or just chasing something extraordinary, this is Raja Ampat as few ever see it—wild, luxurious, and completely unforgettable.

Day 1 – Embarkation in Sorong

The adventure begins in Sorong, where you’ll be met at the airport or collected from your hotel for a group transfer to the harbour. The crew of Calico Jack will be waiting with refreshments, a ship tour, and a welcome briefing to get you settled in. Once everyone’s aboard, we’ll hoist the anchor and set sail through Sele Strait toward the southern reaches of Misool. It’s a 12-hour crossing—perfect for getting to know the ship, your gear, and your new ocean-going companions.

Days 2–6 – Southern Raja Ampat: Misool Region

Over the next five days, we dive deep into Misool—an underwater cathedral of soft corals, dramatic drop-offs, and biodiversity that would make Attenborough emotional. You’ll rack up 16–18 dives across multiple iconic sites, each with its own topography, character, and marine circus.

Balbulol greets us first with towering limestone walls and schools of platax, snappers, and bumphead parrotfish. We’ll anchor overnight in a hidden lagoon and take dinghies to explore secret coves echoing with the calls of Palm Cockatoos.

At Daram, you’ll descend onto Candy Store and Andiamo, where batfish, sea fans, and black-tip reef sharks swirl around submerged pinnacles. It’s fish soup with a soft coral garnish.

Then, it’s on to Boo Island, home of Shadow Reef—aka Magic Mountain. This offshore ridge is a manta ray cleaning station patrolled by barracuda, trevallies, and a riot of reef sharks. Jamur Boo delivers its famous “windowed” rock formations and reef connections teeming with morays, unicornfish, and nudibranchs galore.

In Wayilbatan, you’ll dive among soft coral castles and pygmy seahorses at Wedding Cake and Four Kings. Between dives, we kayak secret lagoons ringed by jungle. Night dives await, if you’re up for more.

We wrap this Misool chapter with the reef-saturated majesty of Fiabacet, Yilliet, and Farondi, where tunnels, caves, ghost pipefish, and sea fan jungles deliver a final surge of south Raja Ampat magic. That night, we sail north toward Penemu.

Day 7 – Penemu

We wake up to the reef-rich waters of Penemu. First up: My Reef, a bustling fish metropolis known for its intensity during current. Then, it’s Melissa’s Garden—a masterpiece of hard coral architecture—and Galaxy, a reef humming with marine life. In the afternoon, we trade tanks for trekking shoes and climb to the star-shaped lagoon viewpoint for a panorama that proves Earth still has secrets. A kayak paddle through limestone karsts rounds off the day before a well-earned sundown on deck.

Day 8 – Wofo Island

Today we sail to the northern edge of our journey. Black Forest delivers a dreamscape of dark sea fans below and pristine shallows above. At Wofo Tembok and Teman Wofo, the diving gets vertical, with walls dropping into cobalt blue. That evening, it’s time for Calico Jack’s signature beach BBQ—bean bags, bonfire, crew shenanigans, and the general vibe of “this is what life should always feel like.”

Day 9 – Gam & Yangeffo

An early morning cruise brings us into the mangrove-lined passages of Gam, where adrenaline meets ecology. Citrus Ridge, Mayhem, and Way Pretty Shallow live up to their names, serving up high-voltage drift dives with schools of barracuda, bumphead parrotfish, fusiliers, wobbegongs, and both black and white-tip reef sharks. It’s pure underwater theatre, performed at current speed.

Day 10 – Arborek

Today is manta day. We start with Lalosi, a seamount that pulses with life when the currents run strong. Then it’s the legendary Manta Sandy, where rays loop and twist through plankton clouds while wrasse clean them like a pit crew at work. In the afternoon, we drop into Arborek village for a look at life on land, then dive beneath its pier—a night dive dreamworld of soft corals, pipefish, and eerie stillness lit only by your torch.

Day 11 – Dampier Strait

Our final dives take place in the fast-moving, fish-rich waters of Dampier Strait. Cape Kri is the star—an apex dive site packed with sweetlips, trevallies, tuna, and big grey reef sharks. It’s a fitting crescendo to an epic week. After lunch, we decompress on a secluded Kri beach, before setting sail back toward Sorong as the sky goes cinematic.

Day 12 – Disembarkation in Sorong

After breakfast, it’s time for hugs, photo swaps, and one last long look at Calico Jack before we take you to the airport or your hotel. You’ll leave lighter, saltier, and with better stories than anyone else at your next dinner party.

CAR TRANSFER TO/FROM THE AIRPORT/HOTEL

Our driver will meet you at the airport with a sign, name and Calico Jack logo on it. If you arrive one night before and stay in a hotel, we will pick you up from the hotel reception between 9 and 10 am on the morning of the cruise departure.
